|
| Evektor SportStar MAX |
The SportStar MAX and its predecessor, the SportStar Plus, have been on the market and flying in Australia since 2004. The aircraft grew out of the European version - the Eurostar - and was designed from the start to satisfy the stringent Light Sport Aircraft (LSA) standards applied through the American Society for Testing and Materials (ASTM). These standards were introduced in the USA back in 2003 and apply to every aspect of the construction, safety and flight of LSA aircraft.
The SportStar has the honour of being the first LSA to be formally accepted and approved both in the USA (2004) and Australia (2006) - no mean feat at a time when the FAA and CASA were checking and double-checking every aspect of what was then a new category of aircraft.
There are currently well over 50 SportStars flying in Australia, on both the RA-Aus and CASA registers. Many of them are in flying schools, where their robust construction makes them well suited to the rigours of flying training.
Two Australian registered SportStars have the distinction of being the highest flight time SportStar aircraft in the world, with over 3,500 logged hours and 15,000 landings each.
This aircraft is tough and rugged!

| Evektor Harmony LSA |
The Harmony LSA is the latest aircraft in the Evektor stable. Based on the tried and trusted SportStar MAX, it has the same crisp handling and looks of the SportStar, while outright speed and performance are enhanced by the swept wing and tail.
In addition, the Harmony has a host of other changes under the skin to make it even more enjoyable and easy to maintain. Chief among these are:
- more legroom for taller pilots
- different design of brake and rudder pedals
- changed steering and rudder geometry
- bigger ailerons for excellent crosswind capability
- bigger rudder for increased side-slip control
- further increased spacing between rudder pedals
- new sleeker, aerodynamic wheel spats
- new fairings optimised for speed
- revised nose gear leg
- optional electric cabin ventilation
- optional steps at rear of wing
In Australia, the Harmony LSA is certified under the Light Sport Aircraft regulations and can be registered either with Recreational Aviation Australia (RA-Aus) or with CASA as a VH- (GA) aircraft. It is important to understand that the aircraft in each case are identical - only the paperwork is different.
